Fridays For Future (FFF) Windhoek
We are the youth-led organisation advocating for fast and effective climate solutions, energy shift towards a sustainable system as well as social-environmental issues such as food security by working with communities on regenerative land-use practices and starting home and school food gardens rooted in permaculture designs.
Fridays For Future Windhoek (FFFWHK) is mainly youth-led local branch of the global movement Fridays For Future, inspired by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. Through talks and tree planting activities at schools, grassroot outreach and engagement programs (i.e. setting up a community garden, physical and online protests, handing over of open letters, petitions and meeting with parliament delegates and respective officials of the Namibian government) we aim to educate the public about the threat of the climate crisis, the need for climate resilience for communities, and overall empower youth to demand innovation towards a circular economy and sustainable systems. Overall, we aim to demand for our right to a just future on a habitable planet for everyone.
