Civil Society Invited to APRM Briefing on Namibia's National Programme of Action

CIVIC+264, in partnership with NamNet, invites civil society organisations to attend a briefing on the progress made by the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) towards Namibia's National Programme of Action on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

The African Peer Review Mechanism is a voluntary African Union initiative through which participating countries assess their governance, democracy, economic management and socio-economic development. The process enables countries to identify areas for improvement and commit to reforms through a National Programme of Action.

This briefing will provide an overview of Namibia's progress to date, highlight key commitments and implementation priorities, and explore the important role that civil society plays in monitoring progress, promoting accountability and contributing to governance reforms.

Participants will hear directly from representatives of the APRM National Governing Council on the country's progress and the role of civil society in the APRM process. The programme also includes a panel discussion featuring representatives from CIVIC+264, the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) and NamNet, followed by an interactive discussion with participants.

The event provides an important opportunity for civil society organisations to engage with the APRM process, exchange perspectives, and contribute to strengthening transparency, accountability and inclusive governance in Namibia.
