Constitutional Review Consultations
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Petitions is conducting national consultations on the Namibian Constitution, 36 years after Independence.
Civil society organisations, youth groups, women’s groups, community members, legal practitioners, activists, and the public are encouraged to attend and make submissions on the future of Namibia’s Constitution.
Why this, why now?
- This process will assess whether the Constitution still responds to Namibia’s current realities and challenges.
- It is an opportunity to raise concerns, propose reforms, and shape democratic governance.
- Discussions will include human rights, governance, youth and gender inclusion, land reform, electoral systems, decentralisation, traditional authorities, and socio-economic challenges.
