Nominations Open: Namibia Sustainable Development Awards 2026
Civil society organisations, community groups, youth leaders, schools, researchers, artists, journalists and businesses are invited to apply for the 5th Namibia Sustainable Development Awards (SDA) 2026 under the theme "Empowering Namibian Youth for a Sustainable Future."
The awards are a joint initiative of the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF) and the Sustainable Development Advisory Council (SDAC). Established in 2015, the awards recognise individuals and organisations that are advancing sustainable development through environmental stewardship, innovation, community empowerment, research, education, responsible business practices and youth leadership.
The EIF is Namibia's environmental financing institution, supporting projects that promote sustainable natural resource management, climate resilience, green enterprise development and community-based conservation. The SDAC is a statutory advisory body that promotes and monitors Namibia's implementation of sustainable development principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping to align national development with environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The 2026 awards feature categories including youth action, community conservation, sustainable schools, women and environment, green finance, research and innovation, sustainable journalism, artistic action for sustainability, private sector sustainability leadership and thought leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for civil society organisations and community initiatives to gain national recognition for their contributions to sustainable development and to showcase innovative approaches that are making a difference in Namibia.
