Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN), supported by Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) Trust
The Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) is a community-based network of housing saving schemes, aiming to improve the living conditions of urban and rural poor. SDFN is an affiliate of Shack/Slum Dwellers International (SDI). SDFN is a People’s Movement made of close to 1000 saving groups (Voluntary Associations), involving almost 30,000 members, saving N$ 39 million, and building 7,224 brick houses with water and sanitation.
Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) Trust is a Non-Governmental Service Organisation, aiming to support and add value to the activities and processes of the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia. It is registered as a Trust as well as a Welfare Organisation.

Establishment years:
- 1992 - The Namibia Housing Action Group (NHAG) Trust was founded to support the saving groups as an umbrella organisation.
- 1996 - Communities establish the Twahangana Fund, as a community-managed revolving Development Fund that provides loans to the saving group of the Shack Dwellers.
- 1998 - The Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia (SDFN) is founded by 33 saving groups, which have operated since the late eighties.
