NOTIFICATION OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND PUBLIC MEETING INVITATION FOR THE PROPOSED ONGOMBO COPPER PROJECT FOR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES - 18 May 2022

The Environmental Compliance Consultancy (ECC) has issued a notice and invitation to stakeholders and potentially affected parties of an environmental assessment and public meeting scheduled for 18 May 2022 at 18:30 at the Namibia Scientific Society. This is regarding the proposed Ongombo Copper Project for underground mining activities within EPL 5772, Khomas Region, Windhoek.

 The ECC has been engaged by Shali Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd, the Proponent as the Environmental Assessment Practitioner to conduct the environmental clearance certificate application process in terms of the Environmental Management Act No.7 of 2007. The proposed Ongombo underground Copper mining Project is on EPL 5772, Khomas Region, Namibia. The proposed Project is in Central Namibia near the Windhoek District, 1.5km northeast of the Otjihase Mine and 45km from Windhoek in the Khomas Region. The property can be accessed from Windhoek, towards Gobabis on the (B6) and then by gravel road (M53).

This ECC intends to engage potentially Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs) for the Project and provides a communication channel to ECC whilst the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is ongoing. 

The ECC  invites stakeholders, Interested and Affected Parties and members of the public to the public meeting to provide input into the environmental clearance certificate application process.
